Town & City Scoops Highly Commended Award for Customer Service

Town & City are delighted to have scooped a Highly Commended award for Customer Service at News On The Block's Property Management Awards 2017, given with particular regard to the work of Town & City Director Martin Baker.

Whilst at Town & City, Martin has proven himself as an exemplary member of staff exhibiting great organisation, responsibility and initiative in dealing with many difficult issues at various properties, and is constantly innovating to find new ways to enhance the service that the company provides.

Martin specialises in creating a “team” relationship between client and provider, leading the Board of Directors feel that all the decisions they were making were for the right reason: for the common good. As a result, Martin has turned the property completely around and it is now an exemplary property on the riverbank.

He has also instigated the production of a Welcome Pack for various properties, which has subsequently been spiralled out to many of Town & City’s other developments too.

In addition, Martin and his colleagues have also introduced a raft of new programmes this year which have made a considerable difference to leaseholders, freeholders and developers.

In response to heightened concerns over fire safety following the catastrophic and tragic blaze at Grenfell Tower in the summer, Martin commissioned the production of a comprehensive 16-page guide on fire safety and prevention advice, to be distributed free-of-charge to all leaseholders and tenants at every one of their properties up and down the country. The initiative is to be featured in the Autumn CSR News section of the AQD members’ newsletter, and received lots of praise from leaseholders. Martin is keen to see this document taken on as a standard measure by other Property Managing Agents too, to help prevent unnecessary fires on an ongoing basis. In addition in 2017, Martin and fellow Director Susan Johnson have organised a Safe and Wellbeing Visit from County Durham and Darlington Fire & Rescue Service for Squires Court in Darlington, which houses many older residents in 55 self-contained apartments with communal areas. At the meeting, residents were given a talk on general fire safety for communal residences and also ensuring fire safety within their apartments. The fire officer also took the time to point out a few areas where fire safety could be improved around the building, including ensuring that fire doors are kept closed at all times. Residents were then able to ask questions and bring up any areas of particular concern they had with regard to fire safety. The meeting was greatly appreciated by all and was such a success that they hope to repeat it in the future. This service is now being rolled out to other properties too.
